Flynn Battaglia staff participate in Architecture + Education exhibition opening

2013 A+E Poster

The 2013 Architecture + Education Program is a collaboration between Buffalo Architects, University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning Students, and Buffalo Public School Teachers. Working together, the Architect-Teacher teams incorporated Architecture into the curriculum at participating schools.  Participating this year from Flynn Battaglia were LaLuce Mitchell and Courtney Creenan.  LaLuce worked with Richard Buchnowski’s 8th grade social studies class at Community School #53.  The class incorporated architecture into its history lessons and studied tenement housing and lifestyles during the Industrial Revolution.  Courtney worked with Nadine Hirsch’s pre-kindergarten class at Discovery School #67.  The class studied materials and shapes and challenged the idea of sculpture.

The culmination of the program and to celebrate the students’ work at the Opening Reception will take place on January 10, 2014 from 5-8pm at the CEPA Gallery on all four levels of the Market Arcade located at 617 Main Street in downtown Buffalo. The childrens’ work and process will proudly be exhibited and all are invited. Each student who participated in the program will have his/her work on display, adding up to nearly 500 pieces.
