OUR TEAM
Flynn Battaglia Architects was founded in 1989 by Ronald Battaglia and Peter Flynn on the basis of the experience of the principal architects and staff in planning, project development, architecture, and interior design. Firm Principals Lauren Kaufmann and Christopher Less utilize their complementary leadership, management, and design experience to bring together the skills of our staff in service to the client. Through a focus on select markets in higher education, historic, housing and community facilities, the staff expertise has been broadened and developed to benefit clients.
LAUREN M. KAUFMANN, AIA
Managing Principal
Lauren has spent the last 20 years at Flynn Battaglia Architects, where she has utilized her expertise in all facets of the design process to bring a myriad of projects to successful completion. Lauren is engaged in the entire architectural process, including client and consultant coordination, guidance in the production of construction drawings and specifications, code analysis, and written reports. She excels at maintaining communication lines between the design team and the client, while keeping project schedules and budgets intact. As the managing principal of Flynn Battaglia Architects, Lauren is responsible for the daily operations of the firm, and calls on her design proficiency, technical knowledge, and field experience to maintain the firm’s commitment to high quality architecture and excellent client service.
NANCY REDEYE, ASSOC. AIA
Principal
During her 30 years in the architectural profession, Nancy has focused her expertise on Adaptive Reuse and Historic Preservation projects. Involved from a project’s inception, she engages clients in the design process, communicating with all stakeholders to ensure the highest level of collaboration. Nancy sees each project, whether a large multi-million-dollar restoration or a small renovation for a non-profit organization, as an opportunity to guide clients in the decision-making process, identifying their goals and objectives. Throughout the process, she utilizes her design and problem-solving skills to address the unique challenges faced while rehabilitating or restoring older buildings. She has a passion for creativity, materiality, and history, and incorporates style and authenticity into all her assignments. Her role as Principal includes project development, design, and client services.
EMMA S. ECKERT, AIA
Associate
Emma brings a fresh new perspective to our design team with her insight in evolving building technologies and building information modelling techniques and capabilities. Emma is licensed in the State of New York; she is constantly furthering her knowledge and exposure to new technologies and techniques in all our projects. In her time with Flynn Battaglia Architects, Emma has contributed to many different aspects of the design process, from conceptual ideas to technical implementation. Her disciplined organization and leadership have led to project management roles and team leadership on key projects in the office.​​
AMY SCZEPANSKI
Designer
Amy is a recent graduate from Alfred State College, holding degrees in both Architecture and Interior Design. Her knowledge of construction systems and materials, as well as her ability to quickly and accurately model and detail building elements, has made her a valuable part of our production team. Amy has experienced many roles in the architectural profession throughout her time with the FBA team. She has gained both hands-on experience and a strong sense of community and connection to the WNY area.
JOHN MARK SILBERT NACHBAR
Designer
John Mark recently graduated with his Master of Architecture degree from the University at Buffalo. He brings a unique perspective to his work from his previous career in dietetics and nutrition, where he had the opportunity to work with diverse populations. John Mark has sought opportunities to experience celebrated and historic architecture around the globe, attempting to better understand the existing architectural canon. He is inspired by the challenging nature of civic projects where public and private interests meet, creating unique design opportunities and solutions. John Mark endeavors to design architecture that is empathetic to its users, built upon research, encourages the responsible use of resources, and celebrates craftsmanship in detail and structure.
CHRISTOPHER F. LESS, AIA, LEED AP
Design Principal
Christopher Less is an award-winning architect with over 40 years of experience in a range of project types including Higher Education, Science and Technology, Campus Planning, Community-Based Facilities, and K-12 Education. Working with numerous and diverse client groups has given him the ability to interact in a highly collaborative fashion, yielding innovative results. Chris brings his can-do attitude to every meeting - his ability to visualize the transformation of a project allows him to create a clear picture for the client through computer rendering or hand sketches.

MICHAEL J. MEYER, RA
Senior Associate
Michael Meyer has over 40 years of experience in delivering design services to clients on a wide variety of project types. He has been involved in business development, project management, design and technical coordination, and construction field administration. He is responsible for leading the design team to meet the client’s project objectives for technical quality. Mike’s technical expertise is appreciated by the rest of the office, as he ensures the quality of drawings and specifications.​

BROOKS
Associate
Megan has been immersed in the architectural field, contributing to a diversity of project areas from document production to code review and project management. She has completed many projects utilizing BIM or Building Information Modeling software. She enjoys creating renderings and complete 3D models when clients need to apply for funding or community approvals. Megan is well versed in providing multiple schematic design options as well as document production.

AUBREY FAN
Designer
Aubrey brings a diverse background to FBA, including a former career in education and a wealth of travel and cultural experiences that inform her perspective on the built environment. She is most passionate about the puzzle and possibilities presented by different design solutions, along with the unique construction and challenges inherent to historic structures. Equally passionate about sustainability via conservation and intelligent design, Aubrey sees her career at FBA as a means to promote equity in the built environment.
MONICA FINGER
Office Manager
Monica brings her experience in nonprofit housing services, hospitality management, and office organization to the FBA team. She enjoys assisting in marketing endeavors, implementing creative solutions for data management, and building relationships with FBA’s diverse network of partners.
