Welcome to the FBA Team Kim Dimmig!

We recently added a new Office Manager to the FBA team. Kimberly Dimmig has been welcomed to the FBA team with open arms. We did a little Q+A regarding the beginning of Kim’s time here:

Where are you from originally? Have you learned anything new about Buffalo since you’ve joined FBA?

I was born and raised in Arlington, MA (a suburb 10 miles outside of Boston). And yes, I do still have a “wicked” accent. I also lived in Miami, FL for three years. My husband is originally from Buffalo, and we have lived here for 15 years. Since joining FBA, I have become more familiar with my adopted hometown. My family really enjoyed Canalside many times this past summer, not even realizing the Naval & Military Museum was a FBA project! Buffalo is filled with many beautiful buildings, and in the short time I have been at FBA, I am learning to appreciate them even more.

What is the most interesting thing that you’ve encountered in the office that is different from your previous jobs (that were not architecture firms)?

Learning industry terms has been a challenge, but once I began to understand the different phases, projects start to make sense. I was curious at first about the office set up of an open workplace, but I am enjoying it.  This concept fosters collaboration, mentoring and has definitely assisted me with my architectural industry knowledge, being able to listen to project conversations and ask multiple people questions.

Is FBA anything like you expected? I was not certain what to expect when I started here, since for the last nine years, I worked in a small office of four people, but the FBA staff are all so knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I am happy to be the newest member of the firm and look forward to gaining more knowledge through future experiences.

We’re happy to have you Kim! Welcome to the team!
