The Broadway Market has been identified as an anchor institution in the Empire State Development's East Side Corridor Economic Development and through the subsequent NYS Regional Revitalization Program. Flynn Battaglia Architects was selected as Executive Architect through RFP process to lead the design team. The goal is to transform the market into a unique center for regional, fresh and international foods by renovating the building and filling it with additional tenants and new amenities.
FBA will be collaborating with Diamond Schmitt Architects out of Toronto/NYC and Hugh A. Boyd Architects out of New Jersey. Diamond Schmitt Architects is a world-class architecture firm that has experience in transforming heritage structures such as the former historic St. Andrews Market in Toronto, now known as Waterworks. Hugh A. Boyd Architects will provide Public Market Planning and Design consulting for the project. Hugh has worked on some of the country's best-known, large scale and economically successful markets such as the Essex Street Market (NYC), Findlay Market (Cincinnati) and the Grand Rapid Downtown Market. We are looking forward to leading this large-scale renovation to such an important and well-known Buffalo venue.
