Park Greenhouses
Ongoing
The MLK Greenhouse Complex is located in Buffalo Olmstead Park Conservancy's Martin Luther King Jr. Park and is used to cultivate plants that supply the entire Olmstead Parks system. FBA completed an existing conditions study of the East and South Garage Buildings to determine the priorities for the renovation project.
The greenhouse complex will undergo a two-phase restoration to update building systems and finishes, improve life safety features, and comply with building code. In an effort to create a greenhouse space that can host public tours, during Phase I, FBA will prioritize the stabilization and renovation of the North house, including structural repairs and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system upgrades as the budget allows. The remaining work in the East, West, and South houses will be completed during Phase 2. FBA will develop a historically sensitive design that enables the Greenhouse Complex to benefit from historic tax credits.
