Flynn Battaglia Architects was commissioned to program and design the Allied Health Building, a 50,000 square foot existing facility in the center of the campus at the State University College of Technology at Alfred. The facility is in a key central position on the campus, leading to students instinctively using the building as a way to access the main dining space. Flynn Battaglia met with each Allied Health Education Department committee to determine their existing spatial functionality and requirements for ideal teaching environments. The building is to be transformed into a state-of-the-art education facility which will provide the amenities for 21st Century teaching practices. Included in the new design will be the creation of student seating areas along the corridors to bring life and education into the public spaces.
